Rue, the sorceress’ daughter, is trapped in a tower and she is the owner of long roped locks of golden hair. This book was my introduction to Cameron Dokey’s writing! Last semester I took the course the Art of the Children’s Book and wrote a paper comparing three different versions of the classic tale of Rapunzel, therefore, I was very interested in reading this.

I know it is a fairy tale, but that doesn’t mean happily ever after always has to happen quickly and without struggles and triumphant. Designed by Mahlon F. Maybe not as how it is in stories, but surely something better! It just seems so childish to me–come on, you’re going to put such a massive curse domey someone just because of that?

Out of all the fairy tales I have read, including the Brothers Grimm, these have to be some of my favorite retellings of Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Mulan.

I think the relationships could have been built and explained more instead of just happening. The magic that Melisande processed was also unique and how it effected the events of the story.
Once was a fantastic collection of fairytales wonderfully retold with such beautiful creativity! It is all about what is seen in goldem heart. As we all know, Rapunzel had a shiny golden hair, as bright as the sun, as smooth as the stream. Melisande is a very powerful sorceress deep in the forest. The witch takes Rapunzel and raises her as her own child.
May 21, Alixendra acmeron it really liked it Shelves: Rapunzel is bald, the sorceress is good, a prince is involved but isn’t the only one to take credit in saving Rapuzel, and Rapunzel doesn’t get stuck in a tower until near the last q I have no real complaints about this book. Dokey writes it her way with her stepmother and sisters being kind and caring, where as her father is the bad guy who doesn’t want anything to cokey with her since he blames her for the death of her mother when she was born.
