Though the family in Burroughs’ book is named “the Finches,” the lawsuit claims they are easily identified as the Turcottes, and that Burroughs identified them in interviews.
Well I suppose there is a way to write it that way, but this is written with a tinge of bitterness. I’m still not sure I believe that.
Burroughs is xcissors good author, but this book made me sick to my stomach. This is not your mother’s kind of book, you’ve got to be young and hip and open-minded to appreciate it.

Augusten begins writing in his journal, at times up to four hours a day. While on their walk they decide to venture behind a waterfall. I am fixated on the dryer. I’ve got better things to read than pity parties, thanks.
Rodolph Turcotte, a psychiatrist. His mother’s friend Lydia, for example, wears high heels and augusfen white bikini, and sits by her pool, “smoking menthol cigarettes and talking on her auugusten Princess telephone”.
Did he milk his own story, overexaggerating it? The Finch household is feeling the pressure of a ten year old tax bill. Again, it’s not clear to me if this is more memoir than novel, but I don’t think there can be any doubt that Augusten Burroughs knows how to write.
