She despises her husband, who has been nothing but kind to her, for about five hundred pages for no reason except that he’s ib. A gentle and adoring soul, he treats his new bride with warmth and abiding tenderness, yet appears to her only by daylight.
Erienne evolves in the story. Nay, woodiwisx lady, beside me is where I would have you, always close to my heart. She may not have refused them as strongly as I would have, but it still gave me hope that inside she knew what was right and there were more important things and people in her life. But the proud and beautiful Erienne will have none of them.

Ashes in the Wind. Furthermore, he can deftly play cards, he’s proficient at guns and deadly with swords. Also, Erienne, our heroine, seems a bit selfish. I just didn’t care for the “tension” which has Erienne struggling to maintain her marriage vows and easily falling prey to a handsome rake’s advances side.
As time passes, Erienne learns to appreciate his nature but at the same time, the handsome Christopher Seton acts like a true cunning fox, trying to disgrace her with his passion while she trusts him more than her own husband, which is naivety in its pure form. Twice Upon a Time. Rather than follow the advice of the rejection letters and rewrite the novel, she instead submitted it to paperback publishers.
